Job Summary for Charge Nurse – Operating Room
• Assesses unit needs and available resources for current and incoming shifts
• Facilitate patient care needs
• Assesses implements and evaluates quality of care
• Mentors and precepts to all Nursing Staff including trainees and students
• Directs patient care by working as a team leader and a team member
• Act on behalf of or in the absence of Head Nurse

Duties and Responsibilities for Charge Nurse – Operating Room

The employee will;
• Uphold philosophy, mission, vision, goals and objectives of the Nursing Department and the company
• Identify patient acuity and determine nursing care needs and availability of staff
• Establish partnership, facilitating team building and works collaboratively with other healthcare team member
• Promote staff development through education and training based on identified needs
• Ensure that standards of care, policies and procedures are effectively and safety practices
• Manage medical equipment and supplies
• Support and guides pull-out staff allocated to the area
• Establish healthy and safe working environment
• Participate in the direct patient-care working as a team member and promote highest standards of evidence-based practice
• Raise the morale of nursing team by; Recognize and value contributions from the individual within the ward and provides clinical support
• Ensure patients and staff confidentiality
• Facilitate in ordering, following, receiving and distribution of supplies and collaboration in inventories
• Coordinate patient admission, transfer and discharge arrangement
• Arrange for continuing out-patient services and home care referral as needed
• Actively participate in the orientation, promotion and retention of staff; Supervises trainees and student nurses
• Observe and respect patients’ Bill of Rights and responsibilities
• Support Saudization Nursing Development Program (SNDP)
• Practice culture of safety
• Report wrong practice of nursing care to chain of command
• Lead in performance improvement activities and utilities data to develop action for improvement, evaluation and documentation of outcomes
• Assume responsibility within the scope of practice
• Perform other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of the employee’s knowledge, skills and abilities

Requirements:
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing
• Current license of practice from country of origin
• Minimum of 5 years post registration experience, at least 2 years must be spent in the relevant specialty
• Successfully completes generic and unit specific competencies in the designated area of specialty
