SQL Server DBA | Kerry

Chase Resourcing are delighted to announce that we are currently recruiting a SQL Server DBA for a major client of ours based in Kerry.

Responsibilities:

• The candidate will be primary responsible for day-to-day SQL Server database administration responsibilities such as following-up with IT and Apps Support teams on missing database backups, maintaining database reports catalog, documentation and management of database configuration drifts, creation and administration of Microsoft SQL Server 2008/2014/2017 databases on standalone Windows servers and on Windows Clusters environments, proactive database performance monitoring and tuning, continuous review of existing and creation of new database processes and procedures, development and implementation of database automation solutions and performing quality assurance responsibilities for various database centric project implementations
• The candidate must have entry level experience with installing, upgrading and supporting of SQL Server 2008/2014 databases in standalone and clustered Windows environments. Experience with SRM and SQL Server 2017 databases in standalone and clustered environments is a plus
• The candidate is required to have hands-on experience with implementation, administration and usage of Microsoft Clustering Services, SQL Server Clusters, SQL Server Management Studio, SQL Server Reporting Services
• ASQL Server database administration, configuration, load balancing, performance tuning, backup and recovery, database sizing and space management, SQL and command shell programming, SQL tuning, diagnostics of SQL Server 2008/2014/2017 standalone and clustered databases
• Develops new and supports existing SQL code
• Understands SQL Server 2008/2014/2017 concepts, theories, principles and best administration practices
• Maintains working knowledge of the IT industry and vendor market to effectively address the development of database software systems and the ongoing demands for enhancements to existing systems to provide efficient services to business department and other database/application users

Requirements of SQL Server DBA:

• Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field
• 3 or more years of related experience
• Working experience with various database management systems in database implementation, testing, maintenance and administration in a multiple platform environment
• Previous database administration experience with demonstrated ability and knowledge of various platforms
• Good written and oral communication skills
• Ability to provide on-call support during off-business hours on regular days and the weekends
• Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws
• Strong technical documentation skills
• Good interpersonal skills
• Highly self motivated and directed
• Keen attention to detail
• Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
• Strong customer service orientation
• Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
