Job Statement:
•Teaching Biotechnology and Technical Laboratory Analysis and related subjects at Diploma level.
•Performs a range of administrative duties associated with teaching, learning and assessment.
•Provide high quality teaching and learning support to students to develop industry related and core life skills and competencies
•Conduct project based assessments within the Biotechnology and Technical Laboratory related discipline.
•Provide administrative, promotional and other support to ensure the effective functioning of the Institute
•Maintains effective and efficient record keeping procedures
Job Specification:
Identify, select, and modify recourses to meet the individual needs of the students taking into consideration varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs of the students. Provides a positive environment in which students are encouraged to be actively engaged in the learning process. Meets professional obligations through efficient work habits such as: meeting deadlines, keeping to schedules and coordinating work practices. Essential Function:
Internal Key customers and Relationships: Students – To provide quality educational experiences with excellent learning outcomes Teachers – To provide supportive, collaborative team work environment and to share resources, ideas, solution Head Teachers – To provide student centered learning environment, developing engaging resources and providing student results in a timely manner
Developing teaching and assessment resources; Maintaining student and course records; Pro-actively advising of any issues relating to student
Educational Requirements:
Relevant degree in Technical Laboratory Science or Biomedical Sciences in one or more of the following areas of specialty: Hematology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Clinical Chemistry or Food Chemistry.
A Master’s Degree is desirable from an accredited higher education institution.
Teaching and / or recognized assessor qualification (eg PGCE, Cert.Ed. Assessor and Verifier awards)
Industry Experience or Qualification using Laboratory Information System LIS and LIMS
Experience Required:
Minimum of 3 years relevant teaching experience at a recognized educational Institute.
Successful teaching and assessment experience in a range of areas within the specific discipline (s)
Ability to use student centered teaching strategies including project based learning activities
Highly developed classroom management skills
Extensive knowledge of curriculum and related assessment practices within the specific discipline(s)
Understanding of theories of learning together with a sound understanding of pedagogical and anagogical concepts
Understanding of and ability to design and implement vocational competency based assessment activities meeting specific learning outcome criteria
Sound problem solving skills
Excellent communication, liaison and interpersonal skills
Proven willingness to work effectively and to contribute to the team environment and objectives
Proven ability to implement & evaluate high quality education & training programs to meet customer needs
Knowledge of relevant policy and educational developments in vocational education and training both locally and internationally
Demonstrated cultural awareness and capacity to work effectively in a workforce comprising UAE and expatriates
Proven capacity to be flexible and responsive to situations
Ability to use Information Technology in the class to enhance the learning and teaching process
Ability to use IT such as power point, MS Word and email – outlook email and calendars
Ability to utilize and maximize web-based learning environments
Membership of professional association, Institute or body
